The 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix (Round 16 of the FIA Formula One World Championship) takes place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Sepang International Circuit in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia — not at the Bahrain International Circuit. The race was originally scheduled for the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Bahrain in April 2026, but was cancelled by Formula 1 due to the outbreak of the 2026 Iran war, with too little notice to arrange a replacement venue before the original date. The event was subsequently rescheduled for October 2026 and relocated to Sepang, Malaysia, marking Formula 1's return to the circuit for the first time since the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix. Bahrain retains title sponsorship and hosting rights in name (run as the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026), while Sepang physically hosts the event. The race weekend schedule (all times Malaysia Standard Time, UTC+8) is: Free Practice 1 – Friday, October 2, 12:30; Free Practice 2 – Friday, October 2, 16:00; Free Practice 3 – Saturday, October 3, 12:30; Qualifying – Saturday, October 3, 16:00; Race – Sunday, October 4, 15:00 (56 laps, approximately 310 km race distance). The grid for 2026 comprises 11 constructors and 22 drivers, including new manufacturer entrants Audi and Cadillac. This event covers which driver sets the official fastest lap of the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix, mutually exclusive across all 22 drivers entered in the race.
Settlement details
Settles based on the driver credited with the fastest single lap of the race in the official FIA timing data and post-race classification. In the rare case of a tie on lap time, the driver who set the time earliest in the race is credited per FIA convention.
