Date: The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meets Tuesday-Wednesday, October 27-28, 2026. Time: The rate decision statement is released at 2:00 PM ET on October 28, 2026, followed by a press conference with the Fed Chair at approximately 2:30 PM ET. Venue: Federal Reserve Board, Eccles Building, Washington, D.C. (the FOMC meeting itself is closed to the public; the outcome is delivered via official press release and press conference). Context: At its prior meeting on September 16, 2026, the FOMC voted unanimously (12-0) to raise the federal funds target range by 25 basis points, from 3.50%-3.75% to the current 3.75%-4.00%. The Committee cited persistent pressure in energy and consumer price measures keeping inflation above its 2% objective, while noting that domestic economic activity continues to expand at a solid pace, job gains have kept pace with growth in the labor force, and unemployment has remained stable. The Committee also acknowledged elevated uncertainty tied in part to geopolitical developments, and stated that future policy decisions will remain data-dependent heading into the final quarter of the year. This event covers whether the FOMC changes the federal funds target rate range at the conclusion of its October 2026 meeting, and if so, in which direction and by how much, relative to the current 3.75%-4.00% target range.
